Hugh Taft-Morales, Leader of the Philadelphia Ethical Society, is offering new discussions in his “On Good Behavior” series, a light-hearted but serious exploration of how we treat each other. He will present insightful ideas about selected topics and lead a group discussion. Join in on this exploration of how we might bring out our ethical best!.  Hugh's past programs in 2019 and 2020 were well attended and highly regarded.  The new programs do not require that you attended previous sessions.  Each one stands alone.

Here's a description of this session:

Few books so effectively combine the mundane and the profound as does Atul Gawande’s Being Mortal. It bemoans the fact that technological society has lost touch with “the art of dying.” No human story is complete without the conclusion of our finite time, and yet as authors of our own life we avoid scripting it. We hardly even discuss it.  As a result, we deprive ourselves of an opportunity to craft and savor the miraculous wholeness of life. Come explore Gawande’s insights about medicine, its limits, and what matters in the end.

Mark your calendar for these future sessions. You will be sent a separate announcements with descriptions for each one:

Tuesday, November 9, Being Here Now

Tuesday, November 23, Our Dual Nature: Individualism and Relationships

Tuesday, December 7, Winning and Losing

The October program will be presented on Zoom.  The link will be sent to registrants in their reminder email one day before the program.  The location of the November and December programs will be decided later.  There is no charge for this program.
