Becoming a good editor of your own work takes time and practice, but it’s worth it. Georges Seurat made more than 50 drafts of “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.”
Each session, bring 8 copies of your manuscript: Up to 750 words, typed double spaced in Times New Roman 12. Each session we will gently critique every manuscript. First someone else will read your piece aloud, so you can hear whether a stranger comprehends it. Then we will offer kind, gentle suggestions about comprehension, ease of reading and so on. Next time, you may choose to bring a new version, incorporating some recommended edits – or something fresh.
Since 1988, the leader, Susie Perloff, a widely published nonfiction writer, has taught adults to write nonfiction. And that’s the truth. If you have questions, email her at myunclesusie@gmail.com.
WHEN: First and third Thursdays, beginning October 17, 2 to 5 p.m. – long enough for every participant to share a manuscript every time. No end date in sight.
WHERE: Confidential location near Broad and Locust. The exact location will be sent with your confirmation email.
This group is limited to 8 participants, FitC members only. Group membership is free.
