Please join the Beer Lovers of FitC to visit a third Philadelphia-area craft brewery to sample some of their interesting creations, and to socialize with your fellow FitC members. (Our first visit was to Love City Brewing, June 16, and the second, to Attic Brewing on July 12.)
We will each enjoy 4 three-ounce pours of Dock Street’s flagship beers, and a representative from the brewery will guide us briefly through each beer and provide background on the brewery.
When: Tuesday, August 16, 4:00 p.m.
Where: Dock Street Brewery South, 2118 Washington Avenue (corner of 22nd and Washington). Opening in 1985, Dock Street was the first craft brewery in Philadelphia. We will most likely be sitting inside in air conditioning, but depending on the weather and temperature, we can also reserve a table in their (a little noisy) “streetery” on 22nd Street. How to get to Dock Street South by public transportation: Take the #17 Bus from Market St., JFK Blvd., or 19th St. south. Exit at 19th and Washington Avenue; walk three blocks west to the corner of 22nd and Washington. Or, take the #7 bus from 21st St. and exit at 23rd St. and Washington Avenue; walk one block east to 22nd and Washington. Check septa.org or a transportation app for further info.
Parking: There is street parking on Washington Avenue and on 21st and 22nd Streets.
Cost: $15 per person. The cost covers the beer tasting + tip and taxes, as well as the $1 FitC fee. The deadline for cancellation with refund (less $1.50 FitC refund fee) is Friday, August 12.
How Many: Maximum number of participants will be 16 FitC members.
After the tasting, you can open a tab and then order additional drinks (beers and cocktails) and food from their menu. Dock Street is known, especially, for hand-thrown, wood-fired pizzas and burgers, but there are other delicious food choices (see menu here: https://www.dockstreetbeer.com/dock-street-south-qr-menu ). On Tuesdays they often have special food offerings, such as meatball stromboli.
