This is the fifth in a series of cocktail-hour meetings at local neighborhood bars around Philadelphia. The goals of these meetings are not only to meet new FitC members and to reconnect with familiar FitC faces, but also to explore neighborhood establishments in parts of the city that you may not visit frequently. We hope to enjoy happy hours in South Philadelphia, Old City, SW Center City, Fairmount, Spring Garden, Northern Liberties, University City, and in many other parts of the city.
This cozy and friendly neighborhood tavern sits in a busy neighborhood just north of many familiar Olde City establishments on Market and Chestnut Streets. It is known for its extensive and reasonably-priced food menu and extensive drink menu (beer, wine, cocktails)—- even sangria on tap. This cafe does not have any happy-hour deals. From their website: “Sit inside the low-key café and you'll feel like you've settled into a rustic bistro: heavy wood beams hold up the ceiling, a wood stove warms the room, and a gas street lamp throws dim light on exposed brick.” Inviting, eh?
Event Cost: $16 ($15 “deposit” that you will receive back on the day of the happy hour + $1 FitC fee). Deadline for canceling with a refund (less $2 FitC Refund Fee) and for receipt of your check, if you are not paying online: December 27, 2025.
Event Limit: 10 FitC members
Accessibility: There are several steps leading up to the main floor of the cafe. Restrooms are on that main floor.
Parking/Directions: The Race Street Cafe is located at 208 Race Street. Street parking is very hard to find near this establishment. Public transportation is a better option.
a) Take the El (L1) east from Center City to 2nd Street, then walk north to Race. Turn left at 2nd and Race. The cafe is a quarter block west on Race.
b) Take any bus east from City Hall to 2nd Street (such as 21, 42, 33). Walk north on 2nd to Race, then a quarter block west to the Race Street Cafe.
c) For other public transportation options, consult:

If you need to cancel with a refund before the deadline, please contact Linda Pizzi at lindapizzi55@gmail.com. For questions on the visit, please contact Cheri Micheau (phoebejack1@verizon.net). If you must cancel after the deadline, please contact Cheri. Please do not contact Heather Speirs for any reason, before or after the deadline.
Thanks to FitC Volunteer Member Cheri Micheau for organizing this event.
