This is the seventh in a series of cocktail-hour meetings at local neighborhood bars around Philadelphia. The goals of these meetings are not only to meet new FitC members and to reconnect with familiar FitC faces, but also to explore cozy neighborhood establishments in parts of the city that you may not visit frequently. We hope to enjoy happy hours in South Philadelphia, Old City, SW Center City, Fairmount, Spring Garden, Northern Liberties, University City, and in many other parts of the city.
This charming tavern, located in Brewerytown just north of Girard Avenue, features an impressive beer list and delicious small bites and sandwiches, including the Schnitzel special and tasty skewers. During happy hour (5-7:00) Otto’s offers such deals as the burger and citywide special, three skewers for $15, and $2 off many drinks.
Event Limit: 8 FitC Members
Event Cost: $16 ($15 “deposit” that you will receive back on the day of the happy hour + $1 FitC fee). Deadline for payment, canceling with a refund and for receipt of your check, if you are not paying online: February 17, 2026.
Separate checks are not guaranteed (though we may be able to negotiate them the day of the visit), so please bring cash to add to your $15, to settle your tab.
Accessibility: There are three steps leading up to the front door of the establishment. Bathrooms are accessible. We have requested seating in the small space on the first floor, but it’s not impossible—if there is a huge crowd that day, for example— that we would have to move to the roomier second floor, in which case visitors would need to climb the stairs. On the first floor seating is on tall bar stools.
Parking/Transportation: Otto’s is located at 1216 N. 29th Street, just north of Girard Avenue. Street parking is not very hard to find near this establishment. Public transportation is another good option.
a) From 15th and Arch, catch Bus #48 north to 29th and Girard, then walk half a block north on 29th to Otto’s (on the west side of 29th).
b) From 20th and JFK, take Bus #49 north to 29th and Girard, then walk half a block north on 29th to Otto’s (on the west side of 29th).
