Join FitC volunteer Bob Schmidt for a tour of Stenton, the colonial era country home of James Logan, Quaker merchant, politician, scientist, scholar and secretary to William Penn. Furnished with 18th and 19th century family objects, Stenton offers an unparalleled experience of early Pennsylvania. The mansion sits in the remaining 3 acres of the original estate, surrounded by gardens and outbuildings.
Event Limit: 15 FitC Members
Event Cost: $9.00 ($8.00 group admission plus $1.00 for FitC). Refunds available until May 8th (less $2 FitC Refund Fee).
Accessibility: A small ramp allows those with walkers etc. to enter the first floor of the Mansion. The second and third floors are accessible only by stairs which are low-rise and have handrails.
Transportation/Parking:
The tour organizer will lead attendees who wish to use SEPTA Regional rail. We will depart Suburban Station on board Lansdale/Doylestown train #6512 at 12:09 PM. We will assemble no later than 12:00 on the platform. The Mansion is a 10-minute walk from Wayne Junction Station on flat ground. Wayne Junction is equipped with an elevator.
On-site parking is also available. If you come by car, take the Schuylkill Expressway to Roosevelt Boulevard. Take the Wissahickon Ave. NORTH/Germantown Avenue exit. Turn right to the first traffic light on Windrim Avenue. Go one more light to N. 18th St. Turn right and the entrance to Stenton is on your left.
If not coming by train, please plan to arrive at Stenton no later than 12:45 PM.
