Lunch at ALMAZ CAFÉ with its delicious Ethiopian cuisine brings us to our latest “in the neighborhood” destination, accessible to buses on Walnut St.
We’ll be sharing a family size platter of vegetables and chicken over injera bread. Expect misir - split red lentils cooked in berbere sauce, shiro – mixed legumes prepared with ginger root, rue seed, bishops weed & garlic. This is traditionally eaten with your hands, scooped up in injera bread. Forks are provided to help you! If you’re vegetarian, you will have plenty of vegetable and grain choices.
Owner, Solomon Getnet, was born in Ethiopia and has run this small but comfortable café for 20 years. He is able to accommodate 12 people.
Event Limit: 12 FitC Members
Event Cost: Due to the increased prices of food today (tomatoes!), Solomon says our usual price of $25 per person has to be increased to $27. Refunds available until May 19th (less $2 FitC Refund Fee).
Accessibility: The space is small but accessible.
Parking/Transportation: Parking is difficult as the venue is in Center City - using Septa transportation is a better option.
Sign up promptly as reservations go quickly!
