Mario Lanza Park
Come walk with me in South Philly! We’ll meet at 915 Bainbridge Street, the former Institute for Colored Youth, now an upscale condo, across the street from Palumbo Rec Center playing grounds in Bella Vista. From there we’ll stroll down South Philly’s Italian memory lane, visiting Cianfrani Park, Palumbo Park, and the Weccacoe Playground by the Settlement Music School. We’ll visit Mario Lanza Park, the historic Shot Tower, the Rizzo Rink, and end at the Mummer’s Museum.
The route covers 1.4 flat miles. If you would like, you can stay and visit the Mummer's Museum, or join Joan and enjoy lunch afterwards at a nearby pub. Let Joan Wells know if you are interested in lunch afterwards by emailing her at jkdtwells@gmail.com. Joan’s telephone on the day of the walk is 215-545-0536.
Event Cost: Free
Transportation: The 40 bus will take you up South Street to 9th Street. Bainbridge is one Bloch south.
